Wound Care Jo was created by Joanna Hoopingarner, DNP, AGNP-C, CWON — a wound care nurse practitioner, educator, and Director of Wound Care at a home rounding primary care practice with over 13 years of hands-on experience treating complex wounds across acute care, burn unit, LTAC, home health, and primary care settings.
Like many clinicians, Joanna discovered early in her career that nursing and NP school did not adequately prepare providers to manage chronic wounds.
After starting her career in a high-acuity burn center, she pursued advanced wound certification and spent years refining her expertise in treating all types of wounds across varied practice settings.
She now leads and mentors wound care providers while caring for medically complex, homebound patients with chronic wounds.
Wound Care Jo exists to close the education gap in wound care — teaching healthcare workers how to think critically, treat wounds based on underlying pathophysiology, and feel confident managing chronic wounds that are often misunderstood or mismanaged.
